Looks like Steve Lipson is also producing Ronan's new album too. He works well with Ronan

I saw this on Ronan's official Twitter page:

Finished vocals on solo record. Very excited. Sounding great. R

This is amazing news! I can't quite believe this is true and it's actually going to happen. But I really wait for this album to be released. How lucky are we with two solo Ronan albums being released in the space of about nine months?!

I wish the last one could have had a longer life - but I know with these themed albums that often isn't possible. Either way, it's all good news to me.

I don't think he said he was writing with Greg for his solo album.......they are working with him for Boyzone tracks. Seems to me that the new Boyzone album will be the upbeat album that Ronan should have make

He worked with GA two years ago. He worked with a bunch of different people two years ago. And if *insert a really abusive sentence about boybands here* then we would have heard all that stuff by now.

I think he is always writing. Just after BYH he did a lot of writing for a new solo album, but that seem to go by the way for the "reunion" and then SFMM came along. Hopefully we may get a few new songs on "Winter's Songs", but I think we have to expect just as many covers   Still whatever form it takes I'm just happy that he is still doing solo stuff alongside BZ stuff, to me anything is better than nothing.

Here is an intersting site - it lists all Ronan's co written songs. Some we have heard, many have never been released, but it does give you an idea of who he has worked with over the years.

He is writing all the time yeah. He must have dozens of songs on the shelf that he could use any time.

This is definitely much better than nothing - especially in what I'd expected to be a horrible year. It's one step along the way, it may be a little one but at least he's moving forward.

Wouldn't you just love to hear some of those never released songs.  It's probably not going to be my 'ideal' album but I agree with you Karen I am just happy to get something solo from him.

Oh dear, I just wish he did use his own songs more, even if it was for Boyzone. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of the boyband idea anymore but if they did use songs which are actually written by Ronan (wasn't there talks about him and Mikey being in the studio together as well?), I guess I wouldn't even mind that much. But none of the 3 new Boyzone songs were written by any of the boyz. I think it's just really sad :(

The fewer songs of his he wastes on the boyband, the better. Better save the best ones for his next release and actually get some international recognition that way. (Like, hello? there is a world outside the UK, it's just that the doors aren't open to everyone - thank God!!!!!)

But yes it is sad. Pretty much everything of what goes on these days is sad.

Winter Songs - Details and tracklist
« Reply #29 on: September 22, 2009, 12:53:31 PM »

New Album - Winter Songs
Following the success of Ronan Keating’s international number one album ‘Songs For My Mother’ released earlier this year, Ronan is delighted to announce that he has recorded another special set of songs entitled ‘Winter Songs’ for this Christmas.

'Winter Songs' will be released on 16th November and the single 'Stay' will be released digitally on the same day.

Teaming up again with ‘Songs For My Mother’ producer Steve Lipson (past credits include Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox and Pet Shop Boys) Ronan has pulled together a set of 11 songs that evoke special memories of winter and Christmas for him.

‘Winter Songs’ is a mix of traditional and modern festive classics, including tracks from artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell and Grammy Award winning Sugarland. Along with these Ronan has also included the poignant Christmas Hymn ‘Silent Night’ and the beautiful ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’. The album also includes two brand new Ronan songs ‘Its Only Christmas’ and ‘Scars’.

Ronan said of the album:

“2009 has been a brilliant year and when I was asked to follow up ‘Songs For My Mother’ with a collection of winter songs I jumped at the opportunity”, enthused Ronan. “For me some of these songs conjure up some of my favorite Christmas memories.”

The full album tracklisting will be -

Winter Song - Sara Bareilles
Stay - Sugarland
Scars - Ronan Keating
Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkel
River - Joni Mitchell
Its Only Christmas - Ronan Keating
Little Drummer Boy – Traditional
Ring Them Bells - Bob Dylan
Caledonia - Dougie MacLean
Silent Night - Traditional
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Traditional
