Petition for a good cause...
« on: June 23, 2007, 01:55:45 PM »

I thought maybe some of you could help by taking part in this...

The website might send you action alerts in the future for other campaigns but of course you can always unsubscribe.

There's some more petitions on the home page as well as lots of information.

All you need to do is click on any of the campaigns and fill in your name and address. This time, the people of Paraguay need our help - see quote below.

Quote
An estimated of 90,000 people are displace from their land every year.
....
The diesel from barges, the disturbance of the sediments on the river bed and the drift of dusts and pesticide toxins from the grains will undoubtedly affect the whole of the drinking water supply. The presence of these elements in urban water will mean an exponential increase in the risk of diseases such as cancer, leukemia, allergies, respiratory and intestinal tract problems, miscarriage and congenial malformation.

Oh, yeah, that's also a big topic - as well as whale killing and the climate crisis...

I can't understand people chopping down, it's making me sad and angry cos I know of the consequences (for the flora, fauna and us...). Or what about China, they ruin their natural enviroment with their economic policy?!?!

Don't get me started about China, they are insane...they seem to have no sense of responsibility at all.  :?

"The heads of France and Germany are about to conclude a bilateral deal, which threatens to water down (already weak!) European legislation tackling CO2 emissions from cars. We've made a petition for the European Council's current President, demanding that he and other heads of state stand up for the climate.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION NOW.

We'll deliver the petition to the President of the European Council on Monday, and every day before 12 April when we have another 10,000 more signatures.

The German government is driving this--putting the immediate commercial interests of German luxury car-makers before the safety of the planet. Sarkozy is riding along with Merkel because he needs Germany's support for his grand plans for a Mediterranean Union.
Two wheels better than four,
Mel, Martin, Richard, Eoin and the car campaign team"

Help Us Switch Off the Rokkasho Nuclear Reprocessing Plant, Switch on Renewable Energy

Daily discharges of radioactivity from the plant are estimated to be higher that those from the two large European nuclear reprocessing facilities at Cap de la Hague in France, and Sellafield, in the UK.
A study commissioned by Greenpeace has calculated that this could result in 15,000 additional cancer deaths worldwide.
Fully operational, Rokkasho would separate 8 tonnes of plutonium per year - sufficient material for a thousand nuclear weapons.
